Arrival & Departure

What time is check-in?

Self check-in opens at 3:00pm. Your personalised PIN will unlock the suite without visiting reception.

What time is check-out?

Check-out is by 11:00am. Your PIN automatically expires at this time and the smart lock secures the door.

What if I arrive late at night?

No problem. Our smart locks support 24-hour self check-in, so you can arrive whenever it suits you.

Can I request early check-in or late check-out?

Early arrivals or late departures may be possible depending on availability. Please contact us ahead of time to arrange this - additional charges may apply.

Access & Smart Locks

How do I access the hotel lobby?

Once your booking is confirmed, we email and text you a unique PIN. Enter it on the lobby door keypad to access the Empress Building.

How do I use my Empress Suites self check-in door lock?

Step 1 - Unlocking your room

  • Wake the lock by touching the screen.
  • Enter your PIN followed by #.
  • You will hear a click when the lock releases.
  • Push the handle down to enter.

Step 2 - Locking when you leave

  • Close the door firmly.
  • Lift the handle upwards.
  • The deadbolt engages with an audible click, fully securing your suite.

Use the same PIN to access the Goa Spice restaurant bar.

Dining & Room Amenities

Is breakfast included?

Breakfast is not automatically included. You can add a continental breakfast delivered to your room during booking. A cooked breakfast is in development.

Can I request a cooked breakfast?

Not yet. Until our kitchen upgrade is complete, we recommend the excellent cafes along the nearby high street for a full English.

Do you offer room service?

Yes. The Goa Spice Restaurant provides room service daily from 5:30pm to 10:00pm.

Is Wi-Fi available?

Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi covers the entire building for seamless streaming, working or browsing.

Is smoking permitted?

No. All suites and indoor spaces are strictly non-smoking and non-vaping. A cleaning fee may apply if smoke is detected.

Families & Accessibility

Are children welcome?

Absolutely. Families are warmly welcomed, and several suites include single beds that are perfect for younger guests.

Do you offer a baby cot?

Yes. Add a complimentary baby cot to your reservation within the Add-Ons section during checkout.

Are pets allowed?

We love animals, but pets are not permitted inside the rooms.

Do you have accessible rooms or disabled facilities?

Due to the Empress Building's historic architecture, there are no lifts or wheelchair-accessible suites. Sadly, we are not suitable for wheelchair users.

Transport & Parking

Is parking available?

Yes. There is ample free parking around the building. Browse nearby options via our free parking guide.

Do you provide luggage storage?

We operate a self check-in model and cannot hold luggage. If you arrive before check-in, we suggest leaving items locked securely in your vehicle.

Can you recommend a local taxi service?

Uber operates throughout Mexborough with a typical 5-10 minute wait. If you are in the Goa Spice bar, the team can call a local taxi for you.

How close are cafes, restaurants, and shops?

The high street is only a few minutes' walk away and offers cafes, restaurants, shops, and bars.

Booking & Policies

What is your cancellation policy?

You can amend the date of your booking up to 48 hours before arrival. Please note we do not offer cancellations or refunds.

What payment methods are accepted?

All major debit and credit cards - including Visa and Mastercard - are accepted. A valid card is required to guarantee your booking.

Can I amend my reservation?

Yes. If plans change, reach out at least 48 hours before arrival and we can move your stay to a new date subject to availability.
